It is a symptom for many conditions like food poisoning, infection, overeating or wrong eating, stimulant laxatives or other drugs. Because it is just a symptom its treatment would depend entirely on the cause. Most of the time diarrhea gets treated on its own within two to three days with some diarrhea natural cures; however a severe form may need medical attention.

As diarrhea is a natural way to get rid of the unwanted toxins and wastes from our body, its treatment should never begin immediately. But old and very young people are at a risk of developing dehydration, so diarrhea treatment should be started within 2-4 hours for those who fall in this age group. Try the following home remedies for diarrhea listed below to reduce your diarrhea symptoms.

Completely avoid milk - The lactose digesting ability is temporarily lost when you have diarrhea and thus may even make diarrhea worst. The healthy group of bacteria in yoghurt can be helpful, so make a wise choice when you have diarrhea - choose yoghurt over milk. Lactose intolerance is also one of the most popular causes for diarrhea among children.

If this is the case then you need to avoid foods with lactose completely till the symptoms subside.

Food - Drink lots of clear fluids like clear vegetable soup, chicken broth, and fruit juices till your symptoms subside, this will not only help to compensate the water loss but will also help to recoup the electrolyte losses. Gradually as the frequency for passing watery stools becomes less soft food like wheat gruel, porridge, banana with yoghurt, apple stew can be included in the diet. Soluble fiber from bananas, apples will help to bind the stools together.

Some foods which can aggravate your diarrhea should be completely avoided these include; Brussels sprouts, cabbage, bread, pasta, beans, corn, carbonated beverages, caffeine, meat, peaches, prunes, processed bran and potatoes.

Stay hydrated - Even in mild cases the water loss is there each time you visit the toilet which can lead to weakness and dizziness. So it is important to drink a lot of fluids and stay hydrated.

Sports drink, fruit juices and boiled water is the best to opt for.

Oral rehydrating solution (ORS) - ORS can be easily made at home and is considered one of the best home remedies for diarrhea. Boil water and let it cool. Now to prepare 1 glass (250ml) ORS you can add a pinch of salt and 2 teaspoon of table sugar. Coconut water can also be used instead of plain water to increase the potassium content of ORS. Besides dealing with diarrhea, an ORS solution will also prevent dehydration.

Check your medication - Some drugs like antacids are also a common cause of diarrhea, also if you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs which cause diarrhea then report your specialist immediately.-->Diarrhea is passage of multiple, unformed, watery or loose stools.
