Cold hands could be symptomatic of various problems from something as mundane as stress to other health issues like thyroid or circulation problems. Raynaud's syndrome is another disorder that commonly causes this condition, with patients tending to lose some circulation in the outer extremities, with the slightest temperature change.

This is however a relatively mild disorder that can be treated at home unless in the later stages. Cold hands may seem to be a trivial matter, but this can be an extremely uncomfortable condition and painful at times.
Cold hands can be treated quite easily and effectively simple home remedies and basic lifestyle changes.

Some remedies depend on the disorder causing the condition of cold hands and some measures may be directed at the cause while others focus on the condition itself and on providing relief. Cayenne pepper is believed to be extremely useful for individuals with circulatory problems and it helps blood flow to reach the extremities.

You can have a pinch with a glass of water at regular intervals during the day or you could use the capsule form. This is however only a cold hands remedy and it would make sense to visit a doctor to find out the cause of the problem, so that treatment can be more effective.
Try to include fish like herring, salmon, mackerel and anchovies in your diet as they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, therefore helping to reduce painful blood vessel spasms possibly responsible for a shutdown of blood flow.

If you suffer from an iron deficiency, increased iron consumption means that there will be more body heat, which makes it an excellent way to combat cold hands and feet. Some good sources of iron that are easily absorbable through your diet would include foods like clams, tofu, poultry, fish, lean red meat, green leafy vegetables and lentils.

Wearing mittens or gloves can also help a lot as they are a simple cold hands remedy that will keep your hands insulated and warm.
Cigarette smoke aggravates and causes circulation problems as it narrows the blood vessels therefore decreasing blood flow. Dehydration aggravates chills as it reduces your blood volume. Apart from the obvious water, cider, herbal tea or broth are good, but coffee and other caffeinated drinks should be avoided, as they constrict blood vessels. Make it a point to stay well hydrated by consuming enough water and fluids as this is as important as any cold hands remedy.
