Bronchitis in 3 months old, what are the home remedies?



Bronchitis is a term that refers to the inflammation of bronchial tubes, which are two large tubes branching off the windpipe. Bronchitis means that the lining of these tubes swells and becomes congested with mucus. The baby will cough deeply in an attempt to clear congested mucus from its bronchial passages. It is essential that you consult with a doctor in order to get a medical opinion on what you should do, as the child is very small and the ailment too severe. You can try some simple things are home as well.

Let the baby have water. Every other hour, feed it a couple of tablespoons of water. This will help in thinning the mucus tremendously, making it easier for the baby to cough it out. Put a pinch of turmeric in a glass of water and give this to the baby while it is warm. The turmeric will help with healing. Mix equal amounts of dried ginger, honey and black pepper. A drop of this in a tablespoon of water will help the child to heal as well as dissolve the mucus. Give this before bedtime. Run a hot bath and add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to this. Stand with the naked baby in this water so that the baby can inhale the vapors. This will help to loosen congestion considerably.
