Cellulitis is a bacterial infection that affects the connective tissue under the skin, causing inflammation in the affected area as well as other symptoms such as fever and nausea. The infection usually starts when bacteria enter the skin through a break in it, which can be an injury, an insect bite, a rash, or even a tear that is too tiny to be noticed at all. The most common places for infections to start are therefore the parts of the body that are exposed —the legs, the arms, and the face.
Unfortunately, there is no home remedy or natural cure for cellulitis. Antibiotics are the only method of treatment for the infection, so you should visit your doctor and start treatment immediately. This is especially because cellulitis can be quite a severe infection — there is a possibility of it spreading to the lymph nodes and the blood itself. Once this happens, the situation is quite dangerous and can lead to a medical emergency.
Apart from taking antibiotics, you will need to take complete bed rest to allow your body to recover from the infection. It is also usually recommended to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Note that these measures are to be taken in addition to medical treatment, and not instead of it.
