Wax strips that are either hot or cold should be used carefully on the skin especially on tender areas such as the upper lip. Unlike hot wax burns that can be cooled with water, cold wax injuries take some time to heal as the hair that is removed from the skin also affects skin cells. Henceforth do not attempt to use cold wax on the face. Firstly do not pick at the scabs or try to get rid of the scabs as they are forming. The formation of scabs is nature's way of healing the skin till the time the new layer of skin appears. To ease the burning sensation take some ice cubes, wrap it in a towel or a thick cloth and apply it to the affected area. Let it stay on the inflamed region for about 10 minutes. Repeat the procedure after taking a 10 minute break.
Use some iodine to gently wipe the area. Take a cotton swab dip it in a tincture of iodine or povidone-iodine and gently wipe dab the area with this solution. Iodine is known to destroy the bacteria or any kind of infection that the open wound might be prone to.
