Food poisoning is a very common occurrence and the symptoms associated it are normally mild however sometimes they can be very extreme and even deadly. The normal symptoms are; nausea, diarrhea and vomiting that are generally combined with stomach cramping. These symptoms generally occur about two days after the consumption of the contaminated food or drink. The diarrhea is an attempt by your body to try and flush out the bacteria that is ingested and is causing the food poisoning. Therefore trying to stop the diarrhea immediately is not always a very smart option; however if it does not stop it will cause dehydration and then treating it is needed in order to keep your condition from worsening.
The best way to cure the diarrhea is drink a lot of fluids. But stay away from the consumption of caffeine and alcohol- it will only make your condition worse. Drinks that contain a high amount of fiber are useful to make your stools less watery. Therefore drink juices made up of carrot or drink ginger ale. Foods that contain starch like rice and tapioca when eaten in moderate amounts will help relive the stomach cramps, but do not make the preparation too thick and avoid the use of sugar or salt as it will make the diarrhea worse.
