If you do not have a bowel movement everyday, then chances are that you are suffering from chronic constipation. It is important for you to be aware that this will by no means disappear overnight. You will have to work on it in a concentrated and proper way in order to cure the problem from the root. In any case, a chronic disease takes while to go away, just as it has taken a while to set in completely. The first thing you must do is to make a chart of what you eat everyday. Do this for a week. And try to be honest, because if you cheat, keep in mind that you will be cheating yourself alone. The reason for making a chart is that you can check the chart against the routine you would have to follow and see what you are doing or not doing correctly.
Your routine should be such: you should be eating at least five meals a day. Three main meals should be breakfast, lunch and dinner, and two small snacks. You should eat at an interval of at least three hours. Do not munch or "graze" in between meals, as this will upset the routine. Each of your meals must include some sort of fresh fruit or vegetable, even if in small quantities and only one. To begin with, one is enough, but you must start increasing the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables you eat as you go along. These will be the things that help you to move your bowels regularly and well. Your meals must have less of bakery goods, flour-based products, bananas and apples. They must have more of greens, bran, oatmeal, soups, salads, papayas, peaches, pears, pineapple and plums. This routine should make a difference within a week. Keep at it for a month and try to make it a routine part of your life as well.
