Causes of Phlegm Bronchitis

Phlegm bronchitis or rather bronchitis phlegm is a condition that occurs as a result of an inflammation within the large bronchi. The infection could either be bacterial or viral and when the phlegm produced builds up in the airways, it may cause shortness of breath, wheezing and chest pain. Headaches, tiredness, fever and coughing are other accompanying symptoms. Phlegm bronchitis develops from breathing in pathogens that infect the air around those sick with this condition. The infection usually starts with a dry cough and can also be transmitted through contact with an infected person and sharing the person’s clothing. The lack of proper hygiene is another major cause and it would be ideal to consult a doctor over this condition as a bacteria induced infection could be serious. Bronchitis yellow phlegm is an indication of either the start or the end of the disease. Bronchitis green phlegm on the other hand belongs to the in between period when the condition is in full swing. Bronchitis is caused in cases of under nutrition, malnutrition and is common among active and even passive smokers. Other irritants such as strong perfumes, odors, air pollution, vegetable dust, mineral dust, smoke and smog could also trigger an attack.

Remedies

Consume a healthy balanced diet and drink plenty of water to keep the body hydrated. The phlegm in bronchitis must be ejected from the body as its accumulation not only hinders breathing, but any swallowing could cause a re-infection in the lungs. Onions are an excellent expectorant and the juice of one onion can be extracted and a spoon consumed on an empty stomach every morning. Another popular remedy is to add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to half a glass of warm milk and consume on an empty stomach twice a day. Phlegm bronchitis can find some relief if one consumes a mixture made of one teaspoon of powdered sesame seeds, half a spoon of honey, a quarter teaspoon of common table salt and powdered linseed (one teaspoon). Powder a few almonds till they are fine and mix it into a glass of lemon juice or orange juice. Drink up once after your dinner and before going to bed. Bronchitis yellow phlegm and bronchitis green phlegm could be cleared from the body by inhaling steam for ten minute periods thrice a day. If the infection persists beyond two weeks, consult a physician for a thorough medical check up.
