Acupressure Ear Pain
A earache is a common kind of pain that affects everyone, whether a child or an adult, from time to time. Usually, an earache is caused by a common cold or flu, or by an ear infection. A earache typically occurs when the Eustachian tube gets clogged due to some sort of infection. This is usually a temporary problem, but if one suffers from earaches constantly for over a week, or if there is a shooting pain in the ear without ailments like fever, cold or a sore throat, the sufferer must consult a specialist immediately. However, to get relief from an earache instantly, acupressure therapy can be used. This is an old Chinese method of medicine that requires one to press a few pressure points or potent points.
There are various points that are thought to alleviate earaches almost instantly. These points are near the ears as well as away from them. It’s always best to first press the pressure points away from the ear and then work your way up to the ears. One such point away from the ear is on the wrist. Measure two thumbs widths up your arm towards the elbow, from the wrist crease at the back of your hand. Find the channel between the two long bones of your forearm. Apply pressure in an upward motion and massage this point in both the wrists, one by one. Do this on each wrist for about three minutes. Pressing this point is said to alleviate the pain completely and almost instantaneously. Another point that is away from the ears is on the back of your hand, at the base of the thumb, where it meets the hand. Find this point on the fleshy mound and massage it for three to five minutes, then repeat in the other hand.
Earache Pain Relief
There are various points near the ears as well that bring relief from a earache. One of the points is on the neck, right at the bottom of the earlobe. Find these points on both sides and massage them, applying pressure for a few minutes. There are a number of points on the front of the ear as well, along the vertical line, at the interception of the ear and face. Apply pressure and massage along this whole line. This may be painful temporarily, but it alleviates a earache effectively.
There are a few things you must keep in mind while massaging these pressure points. Take off any ear ornaments that you are wearing, and if you are unsure about the pressure points, you should simply seek help from a professional acupressure specialist. When you are giving yourself the treatment, focusing on the points is supposed to make the healing process faster.
