Many foods are listed to avoid when it comes to canker sores. Chocolate, nuts, oranges etc. These foods have one thing in common. We eat them with our hands. I have discovered that by not putting my fingers in my mouth (nail biting, eating etc) and I don't get them anymore. I used to get them all of the time. So, stop letting your fingers get into your mouth. Be careful when eating popcorn, fruit etc!

Just put baking soda (1 tsp) in 1/2a cup of water. It'll relieve the pain because the carbohydrates in the baking soda naturally relieve the canker of pain and cleanses it of bacteria that causes the canker in the first place. It also kind of relieves u of tooth pains from braces, root canal, etc.

LIME & SALT
suggested by Amber on Saturday, March 8, 2008

LIME & Salt, pick a juicy lime, cut in hal, put salt on the lime ,then squeeze it on the canker sore(the entire half) WARNING its going to sting!!! Its worth it though. Don’t be alarmed the canker sore is going to bleed, but its ok, just rinse and continue squeezing the lime. The Next day I felt better NO PAIN just the sore that was healing. it doesn’t hurt anymore. The sore is smaller and it’s healing.

Eating Yogurt
suggested by [unspecified] on Monday, February 25, 2008

A liquid pro biotic helps not only inside your mouth but in your intestinal tract as well. Eating more yogurt with active and live cultures also helps. This remedy cured my son. He had continuous cankers, one after another. Even making parfaits with fruit and nuts to get the kiddos to eat the yogurt. Popsicle's to alleviate the pain, the cold also kills the bacteria.

Even though it sounds very strange, take a quip and clean your ear wax. Then place a tiny bit of ear wax on the sore. It may sound weird but it works for me. You can also try to put salt on the sore. WARNING: it may burn for a minute or two.

Pour one capful of hydrogen peroxide into your mouth and hold for no more than 10 minutes daily and canker sores become a thing of the past, also it's a great benefit as it whitens your teeth at the same time.

Baking Soda

Try brushing with baking soda after or before using your regular toothpaste. Afterwards, and throughout the day coat the sore with baking soda. I had one for over a week and nothing worked, but baking soda! Now I swear by it!
