Causes

While sight swelling in the morning is normal, excessive swelling can mean many things. Swelling on the face in the morning could be due to internal or external factors.

Proper diet will enhance better metabolism, reducing the risk of any kind of illness.
  • Use appropriate make up and always remove your make up before going to sleep, as the chemicals in eye and skin care products can trigger allergic reactions. Cleanse the face with a good cleanser or use cotton balls dipped in milk to clean makeup. Avoid using makeup that has crossed its expiry date as bacteria collects on these products, especially mascara and eyeliner and eye shadow.
  • Sleep is very essential if you do not want to see a swollen face in the morning. Give your body the needed rest to recuperate after a hard day work, and for better circulation of fluid, rest your head on a pillow.
  • Ice cubes wrapped in paper towels or with cold water can be placed on the face to reduce swelling in the morning.
