Your legs are as important as the skin of any other part of your body. If you sport shorts and short skirts or take regular trips to the beach in your beachwear, taking care of your legs and keeping the skin of your legs healthy is extremely important. Since your legs often get neglected, they can become rough, dry and scaly. To help them look better, it is important to give them some of your attention too. Here’s how you can remove dead skin and keep your skin shiny, youthful and healthy. Please note that these home remedies are not scientifically proven to work, but are known to be effective.
Sea Salt
A sea salt scrub is a great way to keep your legs healthy. Sea salt contains a lot of trace minerals and has a coarse texture that makes it perfect for exfoliation. Rinse your legs with lukewarm water and rub sea salt on them moving your fingers in gentle circular motions. Once you are done, rinse your legs with lukewarm water again.
Walnut Scrub
Take any unscented moisturizer and add ground kernel of a walnut in it. Rinse your legs with warm water and then apply some of your walnut scrub on it. Use your fingers to exfoliate, moving them in circular motions. This will not only exfoliate your dead cells, it can also help moisturize your legs.
Oatmeal Scrub
Oatmeal contains skin soothing compounds that not only remove dead skin but also moisturize the skin and help remove blemishes. It has cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing properties which make oatmeal one of the best scrubs for your skin. Simply blend a cup of oats and mix with milk and cook it to a pasty consistency to make a homemade scrub for your legs. Cool it and then use it for exfoliation.
Orange Rind
You can use orange rind for a homemade exfoliating scrub. Simply grate some orange rinds, and allow it to dry in the sun. Once the rind is completely dry, you can rub it between two hands and make it into a powder. You can then mix this powder with homemade yogurt or unsweetened, unflavored store bought yogurt. Use this scrub to exfoliate your legs. Yogurt can leave your skin feeling slightly dry, so make sure that you moisturize your legs after using the orange rind scrub.
