I cannot get my throat to stop from itching; I also do not feel sick in any way. But it still continues to itch. Cough suppressants do nothing. They only numb the back of my tongue. I've tried all kinds. Please help?

I assume you are taking cough suppressants because the itching in your throat is giving you a dry cough. I am listing some remedies for dry cough, which will help heal the irritation in your throat as well. The first thing to do, is to control the urge to cough. The more you cough, the more you feel like coughing. Try sipping a little water every time you feel the urge to cough. The urge to cough can be psychological to some extent. Here are some natural remedies for an itchy throat:

  1. Mix up a teaspoon each of ginger juice and honey and warm it gently over a small flame. Drinking this mixture 4-5 times a day is very good for a dry cough.
  2. A pinch of ground white pepper in a tablespoon of honey will also work very well
  3. Gargle with warm salt water every hour or so.
  4. Gargling with warm spinach juice is also very good for a dry cough.
  5. An infusion of aniseed and basil can be taken 3-4 times a day.
Boil some water and while it is still boiling hot, put a teaspoon of Vicks Vaporub in it. Cover your head with a thick blanket to keep the vapors inside and inhale deeply for about 5 minutes. Natural remedies are the only way to deal with a persistent cough. There is no OTC cure for cough as such. If your cough is persistent, check if you are allergic to some substance around the house. If taking an OTC antihistamine solves the problem, then it is probably an allergy and you need to explore the source and eliminate it.
