What are the causes and treatment for UTI?

Urinary infections are caused by the overgrowth of a bacteria called Escherichia Coli. This is a bacteria of the digestive tract, but sometimes it can accumulate and multiply at the urethra and from there spread to the bladder causing all the nasty symptoms associated with a Urinary tract Infection. In certain cases it is not a good idea to rely solely on home remedies. If there are signs that the infection has spread to the kidneys, please treat it as an emergency and rush to the doctor. These signs would be pain or pressure in the abdomen, side, or lower back, fever, chills or nausea. You may need a course of antibiotics to tackle the infection.

Cranberry juice taken in its most natural form without any added sugar is an excellent remedy for UTIs. Certain homeopathic remedies such as Cantharis and Staphysagria can help with the burning and pain associated with the infection. A herb called Uva Ursi is very good for UTIs, but caution should be exercised if you are pregnant or nursing. Take a toxin free diet and eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and most importantly drink at least 10 glasses of water a day. Hopefully your infection will clear up soon.
