There are a variety of reasons for the development of piles. People who lead sedentary lifestyles, with very little exercise find themselves suffering from piles. Piles is caused when a nerve in the anus is swollen. This is caused when you have to exert pressure while passing stools. Stools that are hard usually require some force. People who have bad dietary habits are usually those who suffer from constipation.
If your diet consist primarily of hot, spicy food and very little fiber, then you are likely to develop piles. Your diet should consist predominately of fruits and vegetables. High fiber vegetables like carrots, spinach and radish should form an integral part of your daily intake. There is a definite link between alcohol and piles. If you drink regularly then you should certainly watch out for piles. If you are already suffering from this condition, you should try to change your lifestyle and alter your dietary habits. Eating lots of vegetables and fruits is the first step towards this. You should also increase your intake of water and fruit juices. Drinking radish juice is generally beneficial in this condition. You can also drink some warm milk at bedtime. Buttermilk, yogurt, whole wheat breads and salads should be included in your food.
