Natural Treatment
Endometrium is the lining of the uterus and thickening or proliferation of the cells of this lining result in oestrogen stimulation. It is more commonly seen in women with irregularities in their menstrual cycle. It is generally accompanied by symptoms, such as prolonged and heavy periods, vaginal discharge, bleeding after periods and abdominal pain. Irregularity and cystic expansion of the glands, is referred to as simple endometrial hyperplasia, whereas budding and aggregation of the glands is complex hyperplasia.
Women who are overweight and are menopausal are more prone to endometrial hyperplasia. Increased risk is also seen in those suffering from diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome and those who fail to have periods. Certain medicines help in the treatment of this condition. Progesterone in the synthetic form is helpful, failure of which requires for other medication or surgery. Birth control pills are also recommended.
It is non cancerous, though some types of cancer are seen. Hysterectomy is recommended in such cases, to avoid cancerous cells. Diagnosis is done by biopsy or pap smear test. Women on hormone replacement therapy are at increased risks. Careful and periodical monitoring in women is essential to prevent endometrial cancer.
