Dry and brittle hair can be very limp and tends to break easily. Hair fall is not something abnormal and may be higher in your case particularly because of the dryness. Though hair is usually moisturized by the naturally produced sebum, sometimes, the sebaceous glands are not able to produce enough sebum to keep the hair moisturized. This can be linked to disorders of the skin or an inadequate diet.
Your hair is an important part of your face and contributes a great deal to your overall appearance. Therefore, if you find that your hair is giving you a hard time, perhaps it is time to try on some of these remedies:
- Hair is made up of keratin. Keratin is a protein, therefore, increasing proteins in your diet can help you improve the quality of your hair and address the brittleness. Snacking on seeds and nuts which are rich in proteins helps improve the texture of your hair by working on the keratin.
- Vinegar is another excellent remedy that helps improve the health of the scalp. Vinegar is an excellent bactericide. It can kill the bacteria that feed on the sebum (oil secreting glands) and cause the dryness in the hair. In addition to this, vinegar is also an excellent conditioner and adds to the sheen of your hair.
- Take a ripe banana and mash it into a paste. Now mix this paste with some avocado oil. Work this paste into your hair and massage the scalp with it. Leave this in your hair for about an hour before washing it off with warm water.
- One of the most popular home remedies for dry and brittle hair is beer. Rinsing your hair with beer after washing it helps to restore moisture and strength to your locks.
- Egg yolk is considered an excellent remedy for dry and brittle hair. Simply mix an egg with warm water and whip it to make a smooth batter. Work this egg solution into your hair to work up a lather. Leave it on for some time and then rinse it out completely. You can even mix eggs with some olive oil to make a pre shampoo conditioner. Leave it on for at least thirty minutes before you shampoo.
- There is nothing like a little oil massage for your dry hair. Rub in some olive oil at least twice a week and leave it overnight. In the morning, wash this oil off with some shampoo and water.
