It is thanksgiving eve and this toothache is unbearable

Toothaches are one of the most common problems faced by almost all of us. The main causes are the presence of mouth bacteria, tooth decay and tooth cavities. If a toothache is not well treated, it could necessiate the extraction of the tooth. Among the most effective remedies for toothaches is garlic. A garlic clove with a little salt should be placed on the affected tooth. It provides immediate relief from the pain and, sometimes, may even help cure it.

Chewing this mixture every morning will make your teeth strong and healthy. You could also cut a piece of fresh onion and place it on your aching tooth. The ache would subside immediately. If you begin to feel a little pain again, bite into the onion very slightly, just enough to let some juice escape. This works great for toothaches that are unbearable. Cloves are known to have strong medicinal values. Applying clove oil to the aching tooth helps reduce pain and also removes any kind of tooth infection. It contains eugenol, which is a natural pain killer and antibacterial element. For instant relief, apply a hot wet washcloth to the areas of tooth pain until the pain subsides. You can repeat this as many times as required. Pepper powder mixed with a quarter teaspoon of common salt prevents foul breath, dental cavities, bleeding from the gums, painful gums, and toothaches. Gentle rubbing of an ice cube in the area between the thumb and the forefinger for several minutes can help ease your toothache. It overpowers the pain impulses that usually travel along the nerve pathways. Ice placed directly on a throbbing tooth or on the cheeks also helps ease the pain. You should also try taking a mouthful of water (at body temperature) and rinse vigorously; if the toothache is caused by trapped food, a thorough rinse may dislodge the problematic particles.

Foods, which have bitter, astringent and pungent tastes, are good for preventing toothaches. You should strictly avoid sweet foods, especially at night. Gargle after every meal; use a toothpick to remove any embedded food particles from the cavities and floss before retiring to bed. Brush your teeth twice a day with a good quality of toothpaste and toothbrush. Proper brushing of teeth will help keep your teeth clean and gums healthy. Home remedies for toothaches are best for initial treatment but if the pain persists then these need to be rectified or treated with the consultation of a dentist.

A toothache can ruin your day, even your week. And the worst thing is that it nearly always affects you on a weekend or the middle of the night. Or like you, the day before Thanksgiving. You should see your doctor as soon as possible once the holiday season is over.

Clove oil is a generally effective remedy for toothache. You can dip a cotton swab in the oil and place this on the painful tooth. If you don't have any clove oil, you can chew on a couple of cloves. These are also effective ways of reducing the pain. Using a gargle of warm water with some salt in it is generally effective too. You can also gargle with water to which a pinch of turmeric has been added. Gargling with cold water can also help reduce the pain.

You can dip a towel in hot water, and use this on the side of your face that hurts. This will help reduce the pain. Another remedy that you can try is using a tea bag. You should let it steep in hot water and then, when it has cooled down, use this on the tooth that hurts. Take a cucumber straight from your fridge, cut off a piece and use this on the affected tooth.
