Home remedy for pus cells

Pus cells that are present in urine can be caused by a number of medical conditions. The term for this symptom is pyuria. Pus cells are made up of dead white blood cells and other cellular matter and are a sign that there is an infection present. In the case of pyuria, the pus cells are usually the result of a urinary tract infection. This is a very common condition and affects millions of people every year. Women are more prone to developing urinary tract infections than men. The infection is caused by bacteria that enter the urinary tract and infect any of the regions that are involved in the removal of liquid waste from the body.

Urinary tract infections are best treated with antibiotics. However, there are certain home remedies that one can avail of along with the antibiotic treatment that will make the latter that much more effective. They will also help reduce the severity of the symptoms. These home remedies include:

  • Drink Plenty of Water: This will cause an increase in your urine output and help to flush out the bacteria that have infected the urinary tract. You should drink at least 10 glasses of water every day. You can drink fruit and vegetable juices too. The vitamins and minerals they contain will strengthen your body’s defenses and help it to fight off the infection.
  • Add Some Baking Soda: Dissolve a tsp. of baking soda in water and drink it. Repeat this 3 to 4 times a day until the symptoms subside.
  • Cranberry Juice: Studies have shown that drinking cranberry juice can help in cases of urinary tract infections. Cranberries contain chemicals that give it antibiotic properties. Drinking cranberry juice can also prevent urinary tract infections from occurring. You should drink about 4 glasses of fresh, unsweetened cranberry juice every day. However, drinking too much cranberry juice may cause an upset stomach and diarrhea. You should not drink cranberry juice if you are taking blood thinning medications such as warfarin.
  • Hot Water Compress: Using a hot water compress on your lower abdomen will help to relieve pressure on your bladder and will provide some relief from the pain caused by the infection.
  • Vitamin C: Eat plenty of foods rich in vitamin C such as oranges, bananas, kiwi fruit, pineapples, tomatoes and papaya. This will help to acidify your urine and will control the spread of the infection.
  • These home remedies should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment. Consult your doctor before trying any of them.
