To a large extent, your hair reflects the general state of your health, so for your hair to look good it is important for you to be healthy yourself. Make sure that you eat a balanced diet, with more vegetables and fruits, and less meat and fat. Your fiber intake should be high, and you should limit your intake of oily food, caffeine, and alcohol. Smoking affects everything including the way your skin and hair look, so if you smoke, you should quit.
In addition, some basic hair care is of course necessary. Wash your hair regularly, but use a gentle shampoo. You can try several shampoos and see which one suits your hair best. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, particularly in polluted areas, be sure to cover your hair when you go out. You can also massage your head a couple of times a week using coconut or almond oil. Do this at night, or an hour or two before you wash your hair. Once a week, you can also apply a mixture of coconut milk and gram flour to your scalp. Leave this in for an hour, and then wash your hair as you normally do.
