Before you go in for a bath cut a fresh lemon in two halves and rub these on the dark spots of your knuckles, with the lemon pulp pressing on the spots. Let the juice stay on the knuckles for five minutes. Wash it with water and apply almond oil to the knuckles. Massage well into the skin and leave on for 10 minutes. While bathing scrub the knuckles gently with the use of a loufah sponge. Use this method three times a week for a period of eight weeks or till such a time you notice a visible difference that the skin has lightened.

Do not discard the lemon halves after you have extracted the juice from it. Add to the juice two teaspoons of sugar and half a teaspoon of glycerin. Take one of the lemon halves, soak it in the solution and gently scrub it on the dark spots. Use the other half of the lemon to scrub the other hand. Dark spots on finger knuckles health advice

You could try a variety of natural lightening agents to lighten dark skin. Lemon juice is one such natural remedy to brighten dark skin. Dip half a lemon in a mix of glycerin and oatmeal or sugar. Scrub it over the hands in soft circular motions. Leave the mix on for about fifteen minutes and then rinse it off with rosewater or plain water. The oatmeal/sugar will scrub away any dead skin and leave hands feeling soft and fresh.

Blending fresh, unsweetened milk cream or plain milk with half a teaspoon of turmeric and half a teaspoon of sandalwood powder creates a paste, which can be used on the hands as well. Coat your knuckles with this mixture, which should be the consistency of toothpaste, and leave it on for about ten to fifteen minutes or till it starts flaking. Gently scrub it off with a dry loofah or sponge. Wash off the remnants. Caution: turmeric has a tendency to stain skin yellow so make sure you don't leave it on for too long. The yellow color fades away naturally over a couple of days.

Another home remedy you could try is making a pack using Fuller's earth, papaya pulp, sandalwood powder and rose water. Apply this pack to hands and leave it on for twenty to thirty minutes. You can do this before a shower and wash it off.

Moisturize your hands with a homemade moisturizer. Blend a few drops of almond oil with aloe vera gel and apply it to your hands and leave it on overnight.
