While there are no conclusive research findings that prove a link between diet and acne, some studies seem to suggest that if you suffer from acne, you should experiment with your diet. If a certain food affects or aggravates the severity of the acne, you should not consume that food. Certain foods, however, are known to aggravate acne and include red meat, dairy products, processed foods, and foods that have a high yeast content. You should ensure that you eat fresh, preferably organic, foods. Do not overcook food and try to ensure that your meals consist mainly of salads, stir fried foods, and soups. Your diet should include a large amount of fresh fruit, vegetables and nuts. You should also try and experiment with the kind of food that you are consuming so that you can correctly diagnose the cause of your acne. You could tailor your diet to include foods that help you cleanse your system. You can undertake a detoxification diet for various lengths of time but it is generally recommended to eat healthy all the time.
To prevent an outbreak of acne and take good care of your face, you should use a sulfur based soap that is specifically designed for acne patients. Wash your face with this soap twice a day and be gentle on your skin when washing your face. Ensure that you do not scrub very vigorously or use any sort of rough cloth or loofah to clean your face. You must remember that washing your skin too much will actually stimulate your sebaceous glands and increase your acne.
