Throat burn can last long after the causes for it have gone away. Your case seems to fall in that category. Make a syrup with boiled crushed holy basil leaves and honey and store it. Drink a teaspoon of this about six times a day, and after about a week, gradually reduce the number of dosages till you reach a comfortable three a day. Every night, have a glass of hot milk with a teaspoon of turmeric powder added to it. Not only will the milk soothe the throat, the turmeric will act as a natural healer too.
Chewing licorice is also helpful. Put four or five pieces of tamarind in a cup of water and boil this till it is reduced to half a cup. Use this decoction to gargle. Common gargles for a burning throat are lemon, honey and salt. You can use each individually to see which one quits your throat the best. They may also be mixed together. Drinking grape or onion juice will help ease the burning sensation. Make the juices chilled if possible. Sucking on a lemon will also help ease burning. Alternatively, a teaspoon each of freshly squeezed lime juice and honey will provide relief for a few hours. The all-time remedy for burning throats is to gargle with hot water that has a teaspoon of salt and turmeric powder added to it. The relief will be instant.
