- Suck on a piece of ice cube or chew a sugar free gum. You can also put some crushed ice on your tongue and hold it against the roof of your mouth. Drink several glasses of ice cold water or rinse your mouth with it. You can also drink chilled milk or Aloe Vera juice.
- Drinking cucumber juice will also reduce the burning sensation.Use baking soda to brush your teeth for a few days in the morning and evening.
- Avoid any broth, soups, pickles or hot and spicy foods. Have lukewarm tea and coffee. Drinking tepid herbal tea would be very beneficial.
- Eat iron and vitamin B rich foods and avoid those foods which you are allergic to as they might worsen the condition.Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco.
- Apply a few drops of vanilla extract on the tongue and keep 1/4th tsp of white sugar on it. Do not swallow it but let it melt in your mouth slowly.
- Put cold and thick whipped milk cream on your tongue till it dissolves.
- Coat your tongue with glycerin 3 to 4 times a day.
- Gargle with a decoction made from the Ayurvedic herb called Triphala 3 to 4 times a day to reduce inflammation and burning sensation.
