Tips to improve eyesight
Myopia is a disorder of the eye which results in the irregular shape of the eye as opposed to reduced muscle function and therefore there is no way to reduce your number. But you can maintain it and prevent it from progressing further, through the use of contact lenses instead of glasses or the use of eye drops that can be prescribed by your eye doctor. Apart from this there are a number of preventive measures that you can use to reduce the progression of your number further.
Avoid reading, working on a computer or watching television for an extended period of time as it can really affect your vision. Remember when doing these activities; to take frequent short breaks and focus on a relaxing picture or trees in your surrounding area as this helps reduce the strain on the eye by allowing it to focus on objects that are further away. Make sure you maintain a straight upright posture (no matter how hard it is to maintain) and remember to not hold the book too close or far way from the eye .Always make sure there is sufficient lighting available. All these measures help reduce the strain on your eyes and thus are beneficial to arrest the further development of your spectacle number.

Myopia or short sightedness can be extremely troubling especially when it steadily progresses, causing the patient to need more and more powerful spectacles. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to control short sightedness. Eyeglasses, contact lenses, and surgery are the only treatments that are sure to work, with scientifically proven benefits. Although there are some other treatments proposed by people, none of these has been successfully proven to help.
Still, it is worth trying the available options before going in for surgery or continuing to wear thicker and thicker glasses. While it is unlikely that your vision will improve with these methods, there is at least some chance that it will stop deteriorating. There are several eye exercises that are supposed to help - these mainly consist of blinking, changing focus repeatedly by switching between a near and a far object, rolling the eyes from side to side, up and down, and all around, and cupping the palms over the eyes for a few minutes at a time. If you look around, you will find several books and sites available with detailed instructions on these and more exercises. In addition, avoid smoking and ensure that your intake of vitamin A and vitamin C is sufficient.
