Is it advisable to give any medicines to a child for chicken pox?

What medication are you referring to – medication for chicken pox or for some other medical problem? There is no real need for medication to treat chicken pox, as the disease takes its own course and the body successfully fights the virus within two weeks. The main problem with chicken pox is the blisters and the accompanying itching. Make sure that the child does not scratch the blisters when they itch. Scratching can cause the blisters to burst, which can result in secondary infection and scarring. Normally, chicken pox scars do not last long; within a month after the infection, they are barely noticeable. Make sure that your child understands the importance of not scratching, but at the same time, keep the child's nails clipped short, just in case. You should also keep twigs of the margosa tree handy, so that the child can brush them against the skin instead. This soothes the itching and also reduces the chances of infection. You can also give the child a gentle sponge bath with water that has been boiled with a little salt and a handful of margosa leaves.

If you are referring to medications for some other health problem, it is unlikely that the medications will be harmful in any way, but you should check with the doctor who prescribed them, just to be sure.
