I am having lower leg infection for last two months? Is it cellulites and how to treat this?

Leg infections can range from the harmless rash that you might have developed due to an allergy or conditions such as cellulitis or deep venous thrombosis that might need special treatment. In case the rash has been infrequent in its appearance, try to find out when it appears. You might have an allergy to certain type of food, or you might be allergic to certain dusty environments. Eliminate that food item from your diet and check whether the rash disappears as well. If it does, then the infection might have been due to the food allergy.

Allergies aside, your leg can contract deep venous thrombosis. This leads to a clot around the calf and the leg muscles. Another leg infection that's quite well known goes by the name of varicose veins. This infection arises when pressure is put on weak veins in the leg. Cellulitis is yet another leg infection that might lead to red streaks or patches around your leg. Cellulitis comes accompanied by fever. Then there's osteomyelitis. Osteomylitis is a pretty painful leg infection that affects the bones of the leg. The treatment of this infection involves application of heat and antibiotic ointment. All said and done, it would be best if you could get your family physician to examine the skin infection on your leg. He or she will be able to judge the nature of the infection on the basis of the symptoms shown and accordingly, prescribe the necessary medication.
