Razor Shave Natural Remedies
Razor bumps are basically an inflammation caused by shaving, or, to be more specific, by shaving with poor quality shaving materials or using a poor shaving technique. Men have the most trouble with razor bumps, but any skin that has been shaved can potentially break out into what is medically known as pseudofolliculitis barbae. Thus women too often experience razor bumps, most commonly on their legs. The bumps or rather pustules - tiny blisters containing pus - develop when the shaved hair grows, but begins to curl into the skin instead of growing out. This often begins with the irritation caused by shaving without lubrication or using a blade that is not sharp enough.
However, razor bumps can also be caused by shaving too close, shaving too often, or simply using improper strokes. You need to see whether you are making any of these mistakes, and avoid making them in future. For razor bumps that have already appeared, you can apply a cream that contains either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, which is usually available over the counter as an acne medication. Persistent bumps should be shown to a doctor, as the ingrown hair may need to be removed carefully by a professional.
