From what you have described, it sounds like you have a pretty bad infection that is probably caused by an ingrown toenail. Make sure that when cutting your nails you keep them and a little rounded at the edges. Make sure that you do not cut them too short as this will aggravate your condition by driving your nail even further into your skin.
In the case of an ingrown nail, your nail starts to grow into the skin itself. This is often accompanied by a fungal or yeast infection which accounts for the pus that has formed. Add a teaspoon of Epsom salts to a tub of warm water and soak your feet in it at least twice a day as this will help to fight off the infection. Yeasts and fungus require moisture to survive, so instead of using an anti fungal cream, you can use an antifungal powder which will help to keep your toe dry. Make sure that you clean your toe and toenail thoroughly with a good antiseptic to fight the infection and prevent it from spreading.
If your problem persists, you will need to visit a doctor. If you ignore this problem it will get worse and it will reach a stage where your entire toenail will have to be surgically removed.
