Could you burn a cone of paper to get rid of wax in the ear?

It is not clear exactly what you mean - what exactly is one supposed to do with the burnt cone of paper? I have never heard of any such technique to get rid of wax from the ear, and I doubt that it is either safe or effective. Normally, there is no need for you to clean your ears of wax. The wax that is in your ears is secreted by your body for a purpose, and removing it can cause problems. Ear wax is not waste - it provides lubrication, cleans the ear, and protects it from infection. Normally, excess ear wax and dirt from the ear are cleared by natural processes. Jaw movement is an important factor in this process, as it helps loosen dirt and excess wax from inside the ear.

A build up of wax in the ear can temporarily affect your hearing, but this is not a common occurrence. If for any reason ear wax accumulates in your ear, the best thing to do is to chew gum - the steady chewing movement helps loosen the excess wax, after which it gets cleared naturally. If this does not help, you should visit a doctor. Cleaning of wax is a delicate procedure, and if you try to do it on your own, you could end up damaging your ear permanently.
