Pneumonia results in the inflammation of the lungs along with abnormal alveolar fluid filling. It can be caused by an infection, a parasite or injury to the lungs (either physical or chemical). In a case of Bronchopneumonia, a patient will experience an inflammation of the lungs followed by bronchitis. Bronchopneumonia generally appears in patches in the bronchioles as well as the surrounding alveoli. Elderly people and asthmatic patients are more susceptible to Bronchopneumonia. It is also commonly associated with other viral respiratory illnesses. The primary symptoms include chest congestion chest pain coughing fever and difficulty with breathing. It is not uncommon for a patient with a severe case of Bronchopneumonia to expel blood-streaked while coughing.
In most cases, a patient suffering from bronchopneumonia can be treated at home with prescribed antibiotics. If the patient has a more severe case of bronchopneumonia, it might be necessary to hospitalise him. If the patient is extremely dehydrated or has been diagnosed in the later stages of this illness, it would be better to consider treatment at a hospital which will facilitate the close monitoring of his condition.
Although you cannot self treat a patient with bronchopneumonia, you can supplement his diet with various natural treatments which will help to fight any infection and speed up the healing process. Garlic helps to fight infection and restore normal body temperature. It is therefore very effective in treating a bronchopneumonia patient with a fever. Often a patient suffering from bronchopneumonia can have a wracking cough which can be extremely painful and can leave him fatigued and weakened. It would be advisable to use Sesame seeds as they assist in the easy expulsion of phlegm and catarrhal matter. Include homemade soups and broths (made of carrots, spinach and red pumpkin) in a patient's diet to boost his immune system.
