Rheumatism is a soft tissue disorder that is causes pain and an aching sensation in the structures that surround the body's joints. These structures include the tendons, bursae and the ligaments. The disorder generally occurs due to the misuse or overuse of these tendons and ligaments or as a symptom of arthritis. Arthritis is basically the inflammation of the joint areas which causes pain, swelling or inflammation in the affected area and the disability to use the joint easily. Therefore visit you r doctor if your hands are swollen excessively and is very difficult to move, there is a rash in the affected area, there is a loss of weight and if you develop a fever or a chill and if the bone appears crooked or the lymph node appear enlarged.
The best way to treat rheumatism is to take certain preventive measures. The first one is to avoid too much pressure or impact to the affected areas and the elbow as well. Do not repeatedly clench, grip or twist your hands. When doing manual labor take short periodic breaks. Learn correct gripping techniques. A good remedy for rheumatism is alfalfa tea. The tea is made from the leaves and should be drunk about 3- 4 times a day. Another remedy that you ca try is the use of castor. The castor can be consumed in the root or seed form and is effective for treating joint pains. You can consume it by using the kernel boiled in milk and then drunk. You can also apply the castor to your hands by smashing the roots, mixing it with potash and then applying the paste.
