Remedies for Itching and Severe Rashes

I just touched poison ivy what should I do?

Poison ivy is an extremely uncomfortable infestation. Whoever touches it usually finds themselves at the receiving end of extremely serious itching and severe rashes. If the condition gets too bad, these rashes can also weep white fluid. In worse cases, they can sometimes also bleed quite copiously. If your skin is particularly sensitive, then the bleeding can also last a few days or a week or so. Basically, how badly you react to poison ivy would totally depend upon two factors: what kind of resistance your body has and what kind of sensitivity your skin has. Sometimes when people have extra sensitive skin, they will find that they are more badly affected by the plant. Keep in mind that repeated exposure can increase your immunity to it as well. Unfortunately, there are no measures that will help to get rid of poison ivy completely. All that can be suggested are ways to find relief from the horrible itching and burning that typically accompanies this infestation. One of the best methods you can use is to have an icy bath. If you can, soak you whole body in a cold water bath to which you have added ice cubes. You can also add a tablespoon of turmeric powder to this water. This will help to heal the external rash and wounds faster. Salt is also an excellent way to ensure that the rash does not spread - it acts as a sanitizer. But keep in mind that it may not always work for everyone. So if you see that your rash is not changed at all after a day, quit using salt. If the rash is merely topical, you can also apply ice cubes to it. This will totally numb the small area and provide relief.

You can also apply a thick paste made with Fuller's Earth and water. This will not only help to relieve itching, it will also assist in getting relief by cooling down the area and helping to get rid of the inflammation if you are suffering from any. Another method you can use for relief is to apply a paste made of sandalwood and rose water and apply this to the more severely affected areas. This will help by healing the area as well as controlling the itching as well. You should also know that people who are severely allergic to poison ivy may also have an allergy to mangoes, as both plants come from the same family.
