Curing baby jaundice

Curing baby jaundice requires a couple of methods. But the first thing you would need to reveal is the age of the baby. Most of the time, when baby jaundice is referred to, it means that the baby was born with jaundice. If this is the case, the first thing you need to know is that there is no cause for concern. It is good to be aware that there are a very large percentage of babies who are actually born with jaundice. For most part, the jaundice clears up on its own within a week or two. You can actually hasten the procedure of clearing up the jaundice by following the easiest method provided by nature. You can breast feed the baby. Within a span of two to three days, mother's milk provides so much immunity to the child that the infant jaundice does not stand a chance of surviving! Typically, breast fed babies do not even need to go back to the doctor to double check whether the jaundice has been taken care of. You will be able to notice the rapid disappearance of the yellowishness of the skin yourself within a few days.

However, if you are not breast feeding the baby, then you would need to adopt yet another simple measure. You can actually "bake" the baby in pure sunlight. If you take the baby's clothes off and expose every part of its body to indirect sunlight, you will see that the jaundice is taken care of in as little as a week or two. Basically, jaundice is caused due to certain vitamin deficiencies. It is also prevalent in babies who are born before 40 weeks of gestation. Exposure to sunlight can take care of these deficiencies quite easily and well. Make sure that you do not expose the baby to direct sunlight, however. This could actually prove to be harmful to the baby's delicate and sensitive skin. You should expose the child to bright sunlight through a window glass. You could also sit in a shaded area with the baby if you do not have access to sunlight through a window glass. Make sure you manage to get the baby's clothes off before you settle down, however. If the weather is too cold, you will have to find other ways. If these two methods do not show results within a week or maximum, two weeks, you are advised to visit your pediatrician immediately.
