You haven't mentioned your skin type or your complexion. If you are born with dark skin then it is not really possible to get fair skin at home. But if your skin has darkened due to sun exposure then you can get rid of the tan. The complexion of a person depends on the melanin present in the skin. Melanin is the pigment that gives color to our skin and hair. So people with more melanin have a darker complexion then those who have very less of it. Melanin helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun. There are several natural ingredients that can help you to get a fair skin color. Some of them are in our kitchen itself and we use them in our daily lives. To remove tan and to get a fairer complexion you may try the following:
Make a paste of almonds (without the peel) and apply it on your face. Once dry wash it off with cold water and pat dry. Almonds act as natural bleach.
For an oily skin type apply freshly squeezed lemon juice mixed with some honey. Leave it on for half hour and then wash off. Lemon is a powerful natural bleach.
Peel and grate 1 large raw potato. Mix 2 teaspoons of honey to it. Mix well and put this in a thin clean washed handkerchief or a muslin cloth. Tie it securely with a band or string. Rub this directly on your face and body. Apply two layers of the strained juice. Leave it on for half hour or till it dries. Wash it off with plain water. This will help greatly in reducing the tan and blemishes and will also soften your skin a lot. Make it fresh and do this daily for at least two weeks to get lovely healthy fair and smooth skin.
Grate the cucumber along with the skin. Strain the juice using a fine sieve or a muslin cloth. Apply directly onto skin using clean cotton wool. Let dry for about 15 to 20 minutes and then wash off. This is good enough for all skin types, helps to improve the complexion, and also reduces dark circles.
Besides this you need to use a good sunscreen or sun block cream if you have a dry skin and gel if you have an oily skin. Limit your exposure to the sun or use an umbrella and sunglasses. Wash your face with a soap free face wash that's suitable to your skin type, at least 3 times a day.
