If you are troubled with itching on your head, there could be many reasons for this. You first need to determine what the nature of the problem is. Only then can suitable remedial measures be suggested for you. If you have head lice, this is a cause of severe itching in the head. You can get rid of head lice very effectively by adding a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular everyday shampoo. This extremely strong product has properties that will kill lice very quickly and effectively. Just remember that you cannot use this product on children who less than 4 years of age. Children have delicate skin and eyes which may get damaged if you use this product on them. You can also apply a thick layer of mayonnaise to your scalp to kill head lice. Mayonnaise will literally choke the lice to a quick death. If you are troubled with dandruff, this could also be a major cause of itching. Dandruff is normally manifested on your skin in terms of white flakes. You can get rid of dandruff by using lime juice in your hair and scalp. All you would need to do is rub half a lime into your scalp. Wait till this starts itching or dries up, whichever happens first. Then simply use your regular shampoo to wash this off.
Keep in mind that applying and leaving oil on for long periods of time is also a cause for dandruff. If you do apply hair oil, you should know that it stops working after about an hour of application. This duration is good enough for whatever reasons you need the hair oil. So make sure you take this precaution as well. This will also help you with your dandruff. Pollution is also a major cause of itching of the scalp. If you are living in a place where there is a lot of dust, dirt and pollution, you would need to take care of this as well. Forget the old tale that you should not wash your hair everyday. It is simply a myth that can easily be ignored. Look for a mild and hypo allergenic daily use shampoo and start washing out your hair everyday. This is the best help you can get with pollution. Try not to go out while your hair is wet, as this will merely attract more dirt and grime to settle in your hair and scalp.
