Advice on Ecstasy Side Effects

My problem is that I have bump on my forehead. I heard Ecstasy can cause this to happen. I have been taking Ecstasy lately. Is this possible and if so what should I do?

Taking Ecstasy does not cause a bump on your head or anywhere else. You must have probably bumped into something while you were under the influence of the drug, hence the visible bump on your head.

Ecstasy or MDMA is also known by several other names like E, love drug, XTC, beans, X, rolls and Adam. Once you consume MDMA or Ecstasy it usually takes effect within 30 to 60 minutes. Sometimes it might take up to two hours but usually the onset is very quick as compared to other drugs.

Ecstasy is a neurotoxic, psychoactive drug that has more negative effects than positive pleasurable effects. The worst part is that the negative effects last a lot longer than the positive effects. Ecstasy causes the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, (which influence the flow of information throughout the brain) to flood the brain. The mood changes as a result of the change of balance between the two.

The positive effects of ecstasy include increased mood lift and energy, increased awareness of senses, feelings of closeness, comfort, love and empathy, and mild hallucinations.

The negative effects of Ecstasy include chewing of your own cheek and tongue causing severe injury in some cases, extreme muscle tension and jaw clenching, doing and saying inappropriate things which you might later regret, dehydration, nausea, vomiting, severe panic attacks or psychotic episodes (might require hospitalization in some cases), confusion and short term memory loss, brain damage, acne like rash, blurred vision, chills or sweating, liver damage, vertigo, dizziness, erectile dysfunction, hangover that lasts for days, etc. One more negative effect is the desire to do more Ecstasy as the effects wear off and the user 'comes down'. Besides the dangers of the drug itself, there is also the danger of contamination, which is present when consuming any illegal substance. There is no way to be sure what you are consuming and what the effects are.

For the bump on your head you can use ice. Put some ice cubes in a plastic bag and apply it on the bump. You can also use witch hazel as it helps to cool the skin and bring down the bump and swelling. If your bump is sore and has bruised then try using tea tree oil lotion or cream on it. It kills the infection causing bacteria and brings down the inflammation. However if you have a severe pain or headaches then go see a doctor as the impact might have caused some internal damage.
