Need some home remedies for thyroid glands.

First of all, you have not mentioned exactly what the problem is with your thyroid gland. The two most common thyroid conditions are probably hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism - the former is a condition in which the thyroid gland produces too much of the thyroid hormone, while the latter is a condition in which the gland produces too little of the hormone. Obviously, the symptoms and the treatment of these two conditions are very different from each other. Secondly, there are no real home remedies for these and any other thyroid conditions. Proper medical treatment is essential, and at the most, you may be able to use some home remedies and lifestyle changes to manage the symptoms of your condition.

In the case of hyperthyroidism, treatment involves either suppressing the effects of the excess of thyroid hormones, or else suppressing production of the thyroid hormones itself. This may be done by using medication, which is usually the first approach. The medication may address the common symptoms of hyperthyroidism such as anxiety and palpitations, or it may slow down production of hormones by the thyroid gland. Later, if necessary, surgery may be used to remove part of the thyroid gland or even the whole gland. If the whole gland is removed then the patient needs to be on thyroid supplements for the rest of his or her life.

In the case of hypothyroidism, treatment is a lot more limited, in the sense that the only option available is to take supplements of the thyroid hormone to make up for what the thyroid gland is unable to produce. However, here too, there are several options available, and you need to consult your doctor about the options available, and which ones are suitable for you.

There is no substitute for the treatments described, and if you take your medications regularly, they are pretty much all that you need to get rid of the symptoms and get your thyroid hormone levels back to normal. This of course takes some time, as it is not always easy to find the right balance, but you should continue your treatment and not give up. If you have hyperthyroidism, the one "home remedy" that might be useful for you in the meanwhile is to increase your caloric intake, so as to counteract the loss of weight and muscle. In particular, you should increase your intake of protein and calcium, as muscles and bones tend to be affected by hyperthyroidism.
