Effective Remedies for Motion Sickness

Suggest a remedy for motion sickness.

If you are suffering from motion sickness, then you can follow some easy and effective remedies to take care of it. The first one of course, is to ensure that you do not put yourself in situations wherein your problem will get aggravated. Typically, motion sickness is aggravated or incited when you are in a state of constant and rhythmic motion. Sometimes, jerky and bumpy motion can also lead to the same. In both cases, you should try to make sure you do not expose yourself to this kind of movement. For instance, sitting in the back of a car can cause this kind of sickness. You should find alternatives for this kind of transportation. Traveling by train can be one. Some people also find that sitting in a bus can give them a certain amount of sickness. However, rather than being motion sickness, this would more likely be sickness due to the fumes the fuel would emanate. This would be particularly true if the bust is not sealed and centrally air conditioned. You would need to check to see what is making you sick - the motion of the bus or the fuel fumes. Depending upon what it is, you can take care of it accordingly.

To battle motion sickness, you should make it a point to carry lemon or lime slices with you. These are known to battle the worst of motion sickness with ease. Sucking on a slice of lime will alert your senses to the sharp taste and distract your mind from the reason why you are sick. Keep in mind that a large part of motion sickness is also psychological. You need to battle that front as well. If you find that you have to travel in some kind of a vehicle that will make you sick, try to go hungry for as long as you can. A full stomach is one of the commonest and largest causes of motion sickness. Eat sparingly, and when you do eat, stick to foods that are light and easily digestible, such as crackers and weak tea. If possible try to travel at night. This way, you can manage to sleep off the worst of the journey. You should also try to carry something which smells of your favorite fragrance. This will always help to alleviate your sickness. Drink water to make you feel better. But once again, remember to drink in very little quantities.
