Aloe vera is also known as medicinal aloe. Aloe vera is a short plant that is known the world over for its many medicinal and curative properties. Aloe vera is known to be very effective when it comes to treating a host of conditions like blisters, skin rashes, skin burns, sun burns, herpes, sores, vaginal infections and other skin conditions. Aloe vera is also believed to be able to hasten recovery after surgeries. Aloe Vera extract form an integral part of most over the counter skin revitalizing creams and moisturizers.
Aloe vera gel is very effective in treating of pimples. However, aloe vera alone cannot be relied upon wholly in getting rid of this condition. Pimples form due to various reasons, the most prominent among these are: hormonal changes in the body due to the onset of puberty or pregnancy, and due to over secretion of sebum- an oil produced in the sebaceous glands of our skin.
Both the above causes of pimples need a holistic approach when it comes to treatment, and there are no quick fixes, when it comes to solving this condition. The following remedies will need to be practiced along with the application of aloe vera gel or juice in order to obtain the desired results.
- Pimples mostly occur when the body produces excess amount of sebum. The skin pores usually drain out the sebum onto the outermost layer of the skin. However sometimes, the skin pores get blocked due to the accumulation of dead skin cells. Such an instance leads to the build up of sebum beneath the dead skin cells, resulting in the formation of a pimple. The pimple once mature opens on its own. The problem arises when it is forced opened. This is why it is always advisable to leave a pimple alone, instead of scratching it.
- Whenever you feel the need to scratch the pimple you can wash your face with cold water instead and then applying aloe vera gel. This will soothe your skin, and prevent you from scratching it, which could leave a permanent scar.
- Once the pimple has opened up naturally, you would need to perform a skin cleansing exercise also know as exfoliation, in order to get rid of the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. For this purpose you can apply the juice of a fresh lemon on your face and allow it to settle on your facial skin for 5 minutes. Now taking sugar granules, rub your facial skin in gentle circular motions. The lemon juice acts as a natural bleaching agent, while the sugar granules help in the process of exfoliation. Follow this up with a thorough face wash. Aloe vera based face washes or simply washing your face with aloe vera juice would be an effective way of achieving this. Aloe vera does not rob the skin off its moisture and so it is a very effective face wash solution.
Thus aloe vera, when used with other home remedial solutions makes for an effective remedy in treating pimples.
