My Daughter who is 2 1/2 year old always has cold and she is underweight. Can u please suggest some kitchen home remedy for cold and also what food I should give her to put on weight?

Cold is a immune system response, immune system throwing out unwanted and dangerous particles through mucous, sneezes, and watery discharge through nose and moth. The mucous consists of mainly white blood cells and sticky matter used to entrap dust particles.

Following home remedy is offered:

1. at breakfast time mix 1/4 tsp ginger powder, 2 pinches turmeric powder, 1 tsp honey or about 20 gram haggery and a little clarified butter (clarified butter) if you use jaggery instead of honey. HOney is first choice. Give her this mixture and let her lick very slowly

2. In meals, she should start with a little crushed ginger, sea salt 1 pinch, few drops of lemon juice sprinkled theron. If she finds it pungent dress it with hoeny.

3. At bedtime, boil 1 cup milk with 1 cup water, 1.2 tsp ginger powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric till 1 cup remains. when luke warm, add 1 tsp clarified butter, 2 pinches sea salt or a little jaggery and drink quickly. Jaggery cant be substituted by honey here.

4. She will start getting better digestion slowly. Due to poor digestion, cold is a friendly permanent companion. Once she starts feeling more hunger and better digestion, you can give her 4 dates+2almonds overnight soaked at breakfast time. Secondly, in the bedtime milk, instead of turmeric, she can boil 4 dates and 2 almonds, and no adding sea salt or jaggery. Now this receipe becomes tonic for children. You may substitute dried dates instead of fresh sticky dates. Boiling dates with milk increases their nutritional benifit.

Please note that when milk is boiled in the manner given in para no. 3, the lactose intolerance and casein allergies are taken care off. Hence milk from any animal will be good here. Best is ofcourse human milk, next goat milk, next cow milk and last buffalo milk.
