Kissing is a common way to spread the common cold. This is an infection which occurs at the top of the throat and affects the areas where the tonsils are. It can also present itself in the form of a running nose. Common cold is airborne but if your partner has the virus in his oral cavity, it may pass on to you as well while kissing. You are also likely to catch it as it is airborne anyway.
A famous infection that is spread by kissing is known as mononucleosis. This is popularly known as glandular fever or simply as ‘kissing disease’. This is a virus that is extremely widespread and is known to infect a large number of people. It is noted that when you are exposed to this virus as a child, your likelihood of developing noticeable symptoms is extremely low as the body is aware of how to fight the illness. People brought up in clean and sterile environments are more likely to develop an identifiable presentation of the virus.
Some extremely potent bacteria can be transmitted during deep kissing. However, this is extremely rare. Kissing is generally good for health. By exposing yourself to new bacteria, your immune system is allowed to develop protection. This improves your overall health. Oral hygiene is important while kissing as it prevents excessive quantities of bacteria from existing as well as from being transmitted. Kissing is also likely to stimulate you by raising your heart rate and this is considered to be healthy.
