Red cheeks have always been associated with acne, sunburn, and allergic reactions. But red cheeks could also be connected to Rosacea, a condition where blood vessels in the facial areas dilate too rapidly. This causes the appearance of flushing on the cheeks, forehead and nose. This condition can worsen through time. Hence one must pay immediate heed to such a condition.
Here is how you can go about reducing the redness. These are simple home remedies that you can try from home. Although, if the redness persists, visit your doctor.
- Maintain good levels of hygiene at all times. This is a very important step. Wash your face with water at least 5 times a day.
- Exercise for at least for 30 minutes every day. Working out is a proven method to maintain blood pressure and flow in our bodies.
- Drink lots of water. This is known to work on cheek redness very well. Water helps keep the general body temperature down. Drink at least a few pints of water everyday and more if you can. It is a simple method but very effective.
- Learn to relax. Give yourself some time out to relax. This will work wonders for your blood pressure, stress, and overall health. A red face doesn't necessarily mean you are unhealthy, but if you go red very often, it is a sign that your body is reacting to something that is disapproves of.
- Avoid all kinds of hot or spicy foods. Often, the redness on the cheeks is due to the heat generated in our bodies. Avoid, if not reduce, all kinds of spicy food.
- Reduce the overall intake of coffee and alcoholic beverages.
- Protect your cheeks from extreme temperatures
- Vitamin K. Apply a cream containing Vitamin K. These are easily available at the store.
- Chew on some ice. This effectively cools the body down, thereby reducing redness.
- Apply some spritzer to your cheeks. You can carry a spray bottle of water and use it when you want to.
- Women can apply make up to conceal the redness. You must clean your face with a face wash that is meant for sensitive skin. Rinse with slightly cool water. Pat your cheeks with a clean dry towel. Do not rub. Apply moisturizer to your face. This will help the makeup blend in. Apply the makeup with a soft brush. Dab it gently and start brushing it on the cheeks.
- Do not be embarrassed. Red cheeks can be gotten rid off in a matter or days.
- Visit a dermatologist. Although this is a condition that you can take care of on your own, if the redness persists, it is recommended that you pay a visit to your dermatologist and consult him.
