I noticed that recently my menstrual blood is dark brown color and many skin for the first 1-2 days, is it normal?

There are several reasons for the dark brown menstrual flow.

  1. Old blood sometimes gets thick and dark brown in color. Occasionally the blood remains inside the uterus for a few days, and this blood is discharged, it looks dark brown. A good example - imagine how a bloodstain on a cloth would look after a few days, it does not remain red. If there is cramping too, then the brown blood could signify that the cervical passage is too narrow, keeping the blood from flowing freely; the blood remains in the uterus for sometime, till the uterus contracts and pushes it out.
  2. Every so often an infection could cause the menstrual blood to look different or smell funny. If coupled with an unpleasant odor (keep in mind blood itself gives a typical odor) and fever, this should be reported to a gynecologist.
  3. Vaginal itching could be due to something as simple as dry skin, trapping of bacteria for a long period of time under numerous layers of tight clothing, an allergy to detergent, deodorant or yeast to bacterial vaginitis.
Follow these home remedies to relieve itching:
  1. Douche the itchy area with yogurt. Yogurt contains bacteria called lactobacillus; it is also present in a healthy vagina.
  2. Hydrate yourself with lots of fluids such as water, buttermilk and juices
  3. Wear comfortable cotton underwear or panties to allow free air circulation. Keep your private part clean and dry.
  4. Get in touch with a gynecologist if the problem prevails.
