The glands (lymph nodes) on either side of the neck, under the jaw, or behind the ears commonly swell when you have a cold or sore throat. These glands can also swell following an injury, such as a cut or bite, near the gland or when a tumor or infection occurs in the mouth, head, or neck. Swollen glands caused by an injury or minor infection usually go away within a couple of weeks after you recover from the injury or illness.
Here are some home remedies that might help ease the pain a bit.
One of the most effective home remedies is the use of lime. Half a fresh lime squeezed in a glass of warm water, mixed with two teaspoons of honey and little salt, sip slowly, this can be done several times a day. The throat may be gargled with hot water mixed with a little salt and lime juice several times daily. This will help draw out fluids from the inflamed throat, their by relieving discomfort. The juices of carrot, beet and cucumber taken individually or in combination are especially valuable. Formula proportions found helpful, when used in combination are carrot 150ml, beet 50ml and cucumber 50ml to prepare 250ml of combined juice.
