Infant Cold Treatment: My Three Months Old Kid Is Having Cold. Kindly Suggest Some Home Remedies.

Babies have a very low immunity, and therefore, they are prone to developing all kinds of infections. If your baby has cold, here's what you can do to help.
  • Give your baby a lot of fluids. It is important for your baby to keep hydrated, so even if he/she is not very keen on eating anything, make sure that you give your baby appropriate amounts of fluids. If you are bottle feeding your baby, remember that your breast milk contains antibodies that can boost your baby's immunity, so make the shift to breast feeding as soon as possible.
  • Saline nose drops can help loosen thick mucus and phlegm so that it can be expelled easily. You can make your own saline spray using distilled water and salt or get an over the counter saline nose drop from a pharmacy.
  • Use a rubber bulb syringe to keep your baby's nose unplugged and clear. It is very easy to use and comes with an instruction manual so that you can use it safely with your child.
  • Keep the air in your baby's room moist. Use a humidifier in your child's room to keep the air moist. Dry air can cause upper respiratory infections and allergies. You can also use an air mist in your child's room to keep the air moist. However, aim the mist away from the baby's cot or crib. It is also important to clean the humidifier regularly to prevent mold growth and prevent allergies caused from moldy air.
  • Consult a doctor first before you try any of the home remedies for infant cold.
