Is there any home remedies for anxiety?

When choosing the right natural home remedy for anxiety or panic attacks, it is important that the person is well aware of all available options. A number of natural herbs, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids are advertised and sold as effective and safe anxiety remedies, however most of these herbs are unproven in medical science.

Some natural home remedies however, have been shown to be efficient in relieving anxiety and stress. It is important that people who wish to quell anxiety attacks search for the right natural anxiety remedy, and educate oneself on focusing on such products that have been supported by substantial clinical research. Proven home remedies for anxiety are likelier to bring forth positive results.

Experts claim that the extracts of the Valerian herb relieves anxiousness. Valerian extracts help patients feel more relaxed and less worried during panic attacks and must be taken 30 minutes prior to the attack. The herb normally works speedily after approximately half an hour and in contrast to anti-anxiety agents, Valerian is not a habit forming herb nor is it addictive. Research also indicates the potency of Passion Flower in calming one's nerves and reducing anxiousness. Another proven natural remedy for anxiety is L-theanine, which is an amino acid acquired from Green Tea, that is believed to have a pronounced effect on anxiety. A combination of Valerian extract, Passion Flower extract, and L-theanine, can be taken in consultation with your doctor to help to calm your nerves and promote relaxation.

As a form of anxiety treatment, certain lifestyle changes can help by complementing therapy and medication. These include:

  • Exercise is a natural stress reliever. Research reveals that as little as 20 minutes of moderate exercise including cardiovascular activity for approximately four times a week can help in providing substantial relief from anxiety. To maximize the benefits, it is important that people with anxiety disorders concentrate on an hour of cardiovascular exercise every alternate day.
  • Relaxation techniques when practiced in the right manner and on a regular basis can greatly help to bring about emotional relief. Certain techniques such calming breathing exercises, contemplation, progressive muscle alleviation and visual perception can decrease anxiousness and augment feelings of relaxation and emotional wellness.
  • Biofeedback that use specific detectors to gauge certain physiological functionality - such as pulse rate, inhalation and exhalation, muscle tension - can help the individual recognize the body's anxiety response and control them with the help of relaxation methods.

From what I can gather, anxiety may be caused from increased heart rates, irregular beating of the heart, or stress.

Try mental exercises. Maybe breathing or forms of yoga. Try to do something that will take your mind off what is making you have the anxiety.

Try a lullaby, something melodic and soothing, maybe something monotonous or a metronome.

An activity with pattern that will put you in sedated state.

However I am by no means a professional.
