Suffering from a pubic itch could be a socially embarrassing situation if you are caught in the act of itching in public. A pubic itch is widely considered to be a very significant sign of unhealthy living and an unclean lifestyle. There are a number of causes for pubic region itching such as the presence of a sexually transmitted disease, the development of some kind of allergy, the presence of pubic lice as well as some mild form of skin irritation. In most cases, the pubic region itching sensation is likely to be accompanied by a significant amount of irritation to the skin cells in the affected region along with some amount of inflammation. One of the first things to do when you notice pubic lice symptoms is to contact a licensed doctor and seek medication for the same.
However because of the embarrassment this condition is likely to cause, there are also a number of self help steps that one could take to remedy their condition. These steps which include certain lifestyle changes would help also help prevent the condition from taking place. For instance, for women to prevent the development of pubic itch, it is important to remember that after urination as also after a bowel movement, to wipe the area from front to back. This should be done in order to prevent the bacteria present around the anus from reaching the vaginal opening. Apart from causing pubic itch, this also gives rise to the problem of a urinary tract infection. Women should also make it a point to avoid any chemical based products like vaginal douches as also hygiene sprays for women as they are known to cause some amount of imbalance with the acidic level in the vagina. Men, on the other hand, should make it a point to keep the penis washed clean on a regular basis. They should also choose to wear underwear that is loose and made of natural fiber.
One of the most common causes of pubic itch happens to be the presence of pubic lice. Under normal circumstances, pubic lice will only be found in the genitalia or region of pubic hair, but occasionally, they may also be present on other coarse body hair. However, the lice present on the head will not be pubic lice and will be purely of the head lice variety. The two primary pubic lice symptoms are limited to the intense sensation of itching around the genital area and being able to notice the presence of lice eggs, also known as nits, and crawling lice around the region. In most cases, the spread of pubic lice from one person to another happens primarily through sexual contact, although there are known instances of sharing of personal items such as clothing, towels and bed linens could be the primary cause. However, there is also the myth that simply sitting on a toilet seat after someone infected with pubic lice has been on it can get you infected is absolutely not true.
Any home remedies for pubic itch will primarily revolve around identifying the root cause of the problem and getting rid of the irritation, the inflammation and the overall sense of discomfort. One of the most important factors in getting rid of pubic lice is to understand that it is spread through sexual activity; therefore it is necessary that one refrains from engaging in any kind of sexual contact up until the problem has been dealt with. The use of Tea Tree oil is considered to be one of the most effective methods of treatment for pubic lice, primarily because of its very potent antifungal as well as antiseptic properties. It is because of these properties that the solution is also regularly used as a face wash as well as ointment for nail fungus. Concentrated teat tree oil should be diluted and massaged gently into the pubic skin for best results in order to get rid of any kind of pubic lice infestation in the area. The use of peppermint oil is another very highly recommended treatment option for when it comes to dealing with pubic lice. This solution is however more widely known for helping with digestion. The use of peppermint oil in dealing with pubic lice revolves around the fact that it has a soothing effect on the skin and scalp and plays a huge role in alleviating the dandruff and any presence of lice. All one needs to do is prepare a bath with some peppermint oil mixed into the water and allow the body to soak in the solution for a period of time.
There are a number of over the counter treatment options that one can make use of as well, when it comes to dealing with pubic lice, however, it is of prime importance that you consult your local physician for the same. This is necessary in order to identify which of these products are most suitable and least medically complex or dangerous. Feminine itch home remedies do not differ much from the other remedies that could be used to treat the itch, though consultation with the doctor would be of prime importance. In the event that you suffer from pubic lice, make it a point to get tested for other sexually transmitted diseases as well.
