Getting a black eye is not only painful, but can cause a significant amount of social embarrassment as well as a rather bruised ego. A black eye will usually feature some amount of inflammation around the black eye as well as some damaged tissue and blood vessels under the skin. A black eye does not necessarily indicate that you were injured around the eye, but because of the way the blood vessels are set up around the face, a black eye is likely to develop in case of almost any kind of facial injury.
There are a number of home remedies for a black eye that have been developed all over the world in order to allow people to reduce the prominence of the injury. For instance, one of the best ways to get rid of a black eye is to apply a cold compress as soon as you feel the black eye developing. This will also help control the amount of inflammation that takes place. Another option is to soak a piece of cotton in some with hazel and place it on the bruised eye for some time as this will help reduce the pain as well as inflammation.

How can I heal a black eye fast?
Suffering from a black eye can be rather embarrassing primarily because of the fact that most people will assume that it is the result of an altercation that you came out of far worse than your opponent. However, a black eye can develop as a result of a number of different reasons such as cosmetic surgery as well as allergic reactions. Because of the complex structure of blood vessels and other tissues around the face, the trauma does not need to necessarily occur to the eye for a black eye to develop, but any facial injury is likely to cause the collection of blood and inflammation around this area.
The application of a cold compress is one of the most commonly used methods of treating a black eye and goes a long way into helping reduce the inflammation. Another method of healing a black eye is to soak a piece of cotton in some witch hazel and place it over the affected eye for a prolonged period of time. This not only helps reduce the inflammation, but will also noticeably help reduce the pain you experience. You could also simply just warm some water, soak a piece of cloth in it and place over the eyes for a prolonged period of time.

Is there any way of preventing it?
A black eye is a bruise that forms around and below the eye. The bruise forms because of an injury that has caused the blood to pool around the injury but because the skin has not broken, the blood remains trapped inside. The quickest way to prevent black eye is to apply a cold pack on the eye once the injury happens. Applying an ice pack or even a pack of frozen vegetables to the area can help. Not only does this help reduce swelling but it also helps in constricting the blood flow of the broken vessels.
You can also try a number of other fast cures for black eye. Increasing your consumption of vitamin C can help reduce your bruising tendencies. Though initially cold compresses are recommended, once the bruise starts to heal (and turn more lurid by the day), you can also use warm baths or compresses to heal faster. A mixture of cayenne pepper and petroleum jelly, in one part to five parts, has also been known to sooth the bruise. Sometimes even applying a soaked and cooled tea bag is known to be good to remove discoloration of a bruise. You can also try taking vitamin K pills as they have been known to help bruises heal faster.

How do I reduce the swelling around a black eye?
Despite the fact that sustaining a black eye is simply assumed to be the result of a physical altercation, there are quite a few other causes that are actually more common. For instance, a black eye can develop simply as a result of a very forceful blowing of the nose that results in a nasal injury causing the fluids to collect in the loose tissues around the eyelids. Another cause would be surgical or cosmetic procedures; while some of the other causes include allergic reactions, insect bites and dental infections. The layout of blood vessels in the facial area means that any kind of trauma affecting facial tissues is likely to end in inflammation and blackening of the eye.
One of the most commonly used methods to reduce black eye swelling is to place some kind of cold compress over the affected area just after the traumatic experience. Another black eye swelling treatment is to heat some amount of water, soak a piece of cloth in it and keep it placed over the black eyes for a significant period of time. Witch Hazel is also known to be very effective when it comes to reducing inflammation as well as amount of pain being experienced and can be applied with the help of a cotton ball.
