What can help the pain in my throat when I swallow. Is hot or cold better?

Pain in throat - During swallowing if you have pain ,you can take 4 black pepper seeds and suck them till they dissolve then you can gulp them down the throat.This you can do twice a day.

Do warm water gargles 2 times daily is beneficial.

Hot or cold moderately is good in fact if you take hot water 1 cup followed by little cold water then again hot water .This will help to improve the blood circulation and cure infection if any.
